The Laura Street project was a family home extension and full renovation, created to support a growing family. The brief was to transform the existing house into a more functional, light-filled home with stronger indoor–outdoor living.
As the family grew, the home began to feel too small. To address this, a comprehensive extension was undertaken. This included a full kitchen renovation, a new master bedroom with a generous ensuite, a reconfigured laundry, and an extended lounge.
The lounge was designed to flow directly onto a new front entrance and deck. This created a welcoming arrival and strengthened the indoor–outdoor connection. A new hallway wall was also introduced, doubling as a practical study nook with a custom double desk workspace.
The renovation allowed the clients to create their ideal ensuite. A large walk-in shower with wood-look tiles references the home’s original timber flooring, which continues throughout the house to maintain warmth and continuity.
A new kitchen and dining area was added to the rear of the home and positioned to maximise natural light. The clients wanted a timeless black-and-white kitchen, supported by an improved layout and increased storage. A large bifold window opens the kitchen to the outdoor spa and deck, further enhancing the connection to the outdoors.
Throughout the home, the interior was repainted to unify old and new spaces. Reclaimed timber flooring was carefully matched in the extension areas, while new window coverings completed the refreshed interior.
At the front entrance, an electronic door lock was added for everyday convenience and improved security. Overall, this family home extension balances modern upgrades with practical family living, while respecting the home’s original character.
