Laundry

The client came to us seeking a complete revamp of her laundry and kitchen, with a strong focus on improving functionality while respecting the character of the original bungalow.

The existing laundry was clearly not using the best of the space with lack of storage and functionality problems, however there was clear potential to incorporate a separate toilet.

We fully reconfigured the layout, striped back the entire space, straighten, strengthen and rebuilt, then insulated and relined with a tongue and groove panelling, chosen to complement the original style of the bungalow.

The geometric floor tile was a modern nod to the old school checker board look, while custom cabinetry was designed to conceal the washing machine and dryer, which was custom coloured to a duck egg blue to add personality.

In the kitchen the brief was for a lighter, brighter space. To achieve this a skylight was installed to maximise natural light, and paired with crisp white cabinetry. Brass accents and gold glass pendants for lighting over the island bench top lifted the space. Task lighting was also upgraded throughout to improve functionality.

To prevent the white palette from feeling flat, texture was added through a demi-round detail to the under-bench kickboard, which also cleverly housed a functional hidden storage cupboard. Finally timber floating shelves and a subtle duck egg tiled splashback brought warmth and cohesion to the kitchen.

The result is a thoughtfully renovated kitchen and laundry that balances character, practicality, and contemporary detailing – ahead stunning transformation that feels both timeless and fresh.
